An article in the New York Times from 1930 says that a professor of the Chengdu University had discovered records dating back to the year 1827 when the Imperial Chinese government congratulated Li Ching-Yuen his 150th birthday.
The article wrote that many of the men in his neighborhood knew him for a very long time, since when their grandparents were little.
Man Lived to See 256 Years
This man, Li Ching- Yuen began exploring the career as herbalist when he was very young, at the age of 10. He began gathering herbs from the mountains and explored them and their options for longevity.
For 40 years he lived on a herb diet, consisted of wild ginseng, he shoo wu, gotu kola, goji berry, lingzhi and rice wine.
When he was at the age of 71, in 1949, he had joined the Chinese army to teach martial arts. He was a very well known man, who married for 23 times and raised about 200 children.
According to the tales told in his province, Li was very much able to write and read and by the age of 10 traveled to Tiber, Annam, Kansu, Shansi, Manchuria and Siam to gather herbs.
The first 100 years of his life he spent exploring and discovering them. After that, he transferred to selling herbs gathered by other people.
He was selling a wide range of herbs, including the ones he lived on, goji berry, wild gingeng, lingzhi, gotu kola and others.
But as it was already supposed, Li was not the only one. He encountered an even older man, with the age of 500, who taught him exercises called Qigong, and the best dietary recommendations.
All of this led to spanning the length of his life to superhuman proportions. But the question is, what can we learn from all this?
The words that shook the world, what Li told on his death bed was the following: „I have done all that I have to do in this world.
Keep a quiet heart, sit like a tortoise, walk sprightly like a pigeon and sleep like a dog.“. It is fascinating how Li survived for such a long period of time, only with a balanced diet, inward calm and the peace of the mind.
And why is this so difficult to believe in? The Western average lifespan is somewhere between 70 and 85 yearrs, so living long enough to be a hundred can seem a bit too much.
Imagine how it’s like to live to see more than 200 years. It is believed to be impossible.
Well, firstly, bear in mind that there are people in ths world who do not cope with every day stress, who do not work from 9 to 5, are careful with their diet, exercise regularly and definitely do not eat refined sugar or any food for that matter that may do them harm.
No cigarettes, no alcohol, no meat or any other form of genetically modified food. These people live on herbs which act as a booster for the immune system.
These healthy people also take time to improve their mental, physical and emotional health. Do you know how they manage to do that?
With the help of meditation and relaxation. They spend a great deal of time under the sun and in nature, get the proper amount of sleep, and keep things simple at all times.
To indulge in an overall well-being of the body and mind, they do this constantly, and have one word for it – vacation.
There is no doubt that if most people really focus on these things, that they would live to see a 100 years, or even more. Who knows what treating your body right can do for you.
